Fangs But No Fangs by Kathy Love

This one was much better than the first one! Christian, the main villain in the first book, Fangs For the Memories, has exiled himself to West Virginia. And not just anywhere in WV but a run-down trailer park in the sticks. One funny thing - he writes a blog about trying to be human. See, he believes that he killed Jane and that his brothers now truly hate him. Denying himself just about everything he's used to is his self-imposed punishment. Then, he meets his neighbor, insults her multiple times, and falls in love with her. Jolee is a human for God's sake and so not what he's used to (he never would have lowered himself enough to date a human). Fangs But No Fangs (the title has meaning too! Aside from being cute.) is a much better installment in the Young brothers series (did I say that already?) Read it :)

Fangs for the Memories by Kathy Love

This is the first of Kathy Love's Young family vampire series. I've read 2 out of the 3 Stepp sisters novels in that series and liked them so I thought I'd give these a try. It didn't hurt that these books are damn difficult to get a hold of. So, this one is about Rhys, the oldest sibling in the Young family. Rhys reminds me a lot of Angel (Buffy's ex) - he broods, wears black a lot, carries a lot of guilt - you know, a regular Mary Sunshine. He meets a woman named Jane (of all things) in a bar in NYC and then, a short while later, he saves her from attempted rape. He escorts her back to her hotel and goes back to snack on the rapist when he is attacked. Jane returns to look for a lost necklace and walks in on the attack. When they wake the next morning, they're in the same bed and Rhys thinks he's a viscount in regency England (which he had been) and that he and Jane are betrothed.

This was a (I thought) kind of goofy book. It reminded me a lot of Lynsay Sands without her humorous slant. And lord knows I love regency England romances but this book didn't, shall we say, scratch all my itches. I do plan to read the next one, Fangs But No Fangs (at least the titles are cute), because I want to see who snatches up Christian, the brother who tried to kill Rhys. To sum it up: not bad but not great. Worth my time, though.

It Is What It Is...What?

Welcome to all the wanderers who wondered just what the hell Walking Deadman is doing with a link to a book review blog on his (mostly) football blog. And not just any book review blog either - one that talks about romance novels! Have no fear football fans, Walking Deadman doesn't spend his time reading historical romances but rather, his wife does. Walking Deadman is my husband and I am married to a man who placed a link to his wife's silly book blog on his blog roll. Ain't I a lucky girl?

My Life Has Been Crazy

To anyone to has been checking this blog to see if there might be anything remotely interesting, I am sorry. February has not been a good month for me and my books. Family members have been in the hospital, one died, another is in detox (thoughtlessly leaving behind her two sons for her husband and the rest of the family to look after, again). The one who died left behind almost a thousand books for me to deal with. Sorting them then listing them online with my book trading websites took a lot of time. I have plans for future posts (if I ever have time again) - another look at J. R. Ward's books, Lara Adrian's Breed series, and a few others that have escaped me at the moment. I do try to keep what I am reading current. Stay tuned :)

Dead After Dark

I think it's time to pull the plug on this one. Sherrilyn Kenyon's story was good as always and I enjoyed J. R. Ward's also even though it didn't involve the Brotherhood. But Susan Squires's is the one I'm stuck on. I'm not enjoying it and I don't care how it ends. Sorry Ms. Love, not interested in yours either.
