Book Blogger Hop (4), November 12-15, 2010

Book Blogger Hop

Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop and welcome to My Book Addiction! The Book Blogger Hop is hosted each week by Jennifer at crazy-for-books.com. The Hop is a way for book bloggers to meet other bloggers, find new blogs they like, and share our love of books. Each week there is a new question for us bloggers to answer and this week's is:

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

Oh my yes. I am almost obsessive about that. What's worse than trying to read a new author and not being able to know what's going on in the background? Some authors depend on their readers to have read their previous books and some don't; either way, I don't like missing out on anything. I need to know!

So, thanks for stopping by my blog and please leave a comment so I can return the favor! Have a great weekend!

Just hopping by. I try to read books in order but it just doesn't always happen for me.

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

so many people on the blog hop feel the same way, and have to start at the beginning of a series. i don't mind jumping in half way through if i get the book from the library. But if I bought a book, I would definitely buy the first one. Why wouldn't you?!
